SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the tragic and untimely death of Raymond Louis Ruzich of West Frankfort on Wednesday, January 25, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was born January 6, 1963, in Benton, to Louis and Diane (Tomanovich) Ruzich; he valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ruzich was a second-generation member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 318; he joined the Local 318 apprenticeship program on May 22, 2000, and graduated on June 6, 2003; he worked as a journeyman operator throughout the Local 318 jurisdiction until April 12, 2004, when he became a full-time organizer and business representative for Local 318; he also served on the Local 318 executive board; his involvement with IUOE Local 318 has touched thousands of lives; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ruzich was respected and loved by all; he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Raymond Louis Ruzich has been deeply felt by many, especially his mother, Diane Ruzich; his brother, Mark Ruzich; his daughter, Stevie Raeann Ruzich; his aunts and uncles, Mildred Russell, John Tomanovich and wife, Rose, George Tomanovich, Mark Tomanovich, and Rose Bezjak; and his many cousins; he was preceded in death by his daughters, Ashley Ann and Jeseca; his father, Louis Ruzich; and his uncles, Tony and Rudy Ruzich and Dan Tomanovich; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond Louis Ruzich, who was taken from this world much too soon, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest condolences.
