HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is pleased to recognize Charles A. Klyber for winning 23 medals in the 2005 Illinois Senior Olympics held in Springfield, Peoria, the Quad Cities, and Edwardsville from May until September 2005; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Senior Games are sanctioned by the National Senior Games Association for senior athletes who are at least 50 years of age; participants compete in 26 different sporting events, including track and field, archery, basketball, cycling, golf, swimming, discus, shot put, 10K run, 5000 meter run, javelin, high jump, volleyball; and

WHEREAS, Charles A. Klyber (age 68) won Gold medals in the 10K run, 5000 meter, 1500 meter, 800 meter; Silver medals in the 200 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, 1500 meter, discus, shot put, and javelin; Bronze medals in the 1500 meter, football accuracy, softball, discus, and shot put; these combined totals are for track and field meets in Springfield, the Quad Cities, Peoria, and Edwardsville, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, This exemplary athlete has participated in the Senior Olympics, sometimes against former high school rivals; he takes his pleasure in watching senior athletes in the 80's and 90's take part in the Illinois State Senior Olympic games; he also takes with him the knowledge that God willing he will qualify in the 2006 Senior Games for the 2007 National Senior Olympic Games in Lexington, Kentucky and bring home Gold for Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Charles A. Klyber has demonstrated exceptional athletic ability and has confirmed the value and pleasure of lifelong athletic participation; he has brought great honor to himself, to his community, and to the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the House of Representatives hereby commends Charles A. Klyber on his outstanding achievements and extend to him best wishes for success at the 2006 Illinois Senior Olympics and the 2007 National Senior Olympics; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to him as an expression of esteem from the House of Representatives.
