HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois congratulate Chicago's Mother McAuley High
4 School Mighty Mac Varsity Volleyball team for winning the Class
5 AA state championship title on November 13, 2004; they won the
6 conference title, and are the reigning regional, sectional,
7 super-sectional, and state champions; and
 
8     WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs captured their 13th state
9 championship in a thrilling match against Crystal Lake Prairie
10 Ridge and they finished their season with a 42-2 record; Head
11 Coach and Athletic Director Nancy Pedersen finished her McAuley
12 22-year career as Head Coach with a record nine state
13 championships to her credit; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Assistant Varsity Coach is Jennifer DeJarld,
15 Assistant/JV Coach is Mark Wasik, Assistant/Freshman Coach is
16 Meg Griffin, and Mother McAuley's Principal is Sr. Rose Wiorek;
17 and
 
18     WHEREAS, The Varsity volleyball players are Jana Wojcik,
19 Caitlin Strimel, Meghan Meyrer, Ashlee Lindish, Kim Richards,
20 Jen Kozlarek, Stephanie Cummings, Colleen Henehan, Katie
21 Clemens, Caitlin Balsam (Captain), Bridget Kennedy, Emily
22 McGinnis, Kate Corbett, Katie Corley, Bridget O'Brien, and
23 Brittany Cermak; and
 
24     WHEREAS, Caitlin Balsam, Kate Corbett, and Jen Kozlarek
25 were chosen by the Daily Southtown for the All Area Team;
26 Caitlin received added acknowledgment by being named Player of
27 the Year, along with Nancy Pedersen being named Coach of the
28 Year; all 16 players worked together day by day, pushing each
29 other and each contributing in their own special way on and off
30 the court in true Mother McAuley fashion; and

1     WHEREAS, The Mighty Mac team was loyally and
2 enthusiastically supported by their families and fans;
3 therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6 we recognize the talent of these young athletes and
7 congratulate the team and coaching staff on their tremendous
8 accomplishments; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to Mother McAuley High School as an expression of our
11 admiration and with best wishes for continued success in the
12 future.
