HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The United Auto Workers Local 751 was chartered on October 10, 1955 and the first membership meeting was held on December 15, 1955; and

WHEREAS, The employment level peaked in January of 1979 at 4,963; and

WHEREAS, The 22nd Executive Board and Committee took office in June of 2005; and

WHEREAS, Members of United Auto Workers Local 751 proudly produced the world's largest mining truck, which weighed 470 tons; and

WHEREAS, United Auto Workers Local 751 is the only producer in the Caterpillar chain able to produce 6 sizes of wheel tractor scrapers; and

WHEREAS, Members of United Auto Workers Local 751 live throughout central and southern Illinois from north of Peoria to south Vandalia; and

WHEREAS, United Auto Workers Local 751 has over 1,700 retirees; and

WHEREAS, Over the past 50 years, United Auto Workers Local 751 has consistently fought for the rights and well-being of the working families who build the vehicles and equipment that make our economy work; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the United Auto Workers Local 751 on its 50th anniversary and recognize all of its members for their role in building a successful union; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Executive Board and Committee of United Auto Workers Local 751.
