HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Lake County schools continue to raise funds for victims of the devastation left behind by the December tsunami in Southeast Asia; and

WHEREAS, The 375 students at Novak-King School in North Chicago took on a major fundraising effort and raised approximately $740, which was supplemented by Novak-King's Parent Teacher Organization to make it an even $1,000; and

WHEREAS, The students recently presented the check for $1,000 to the United Way of Lake County, which will be forwarded to the United Way International South Asia Response Fund; and

WHEREAS, Because all of the students did so well raising funds, the entire school was awarded a non-uniform day by Principal Katerina Fey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we applaud the Novak-King School students' humanitarian efforts on behalf of the tsunami victims; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Novak-King School as an expression of our appreciation for their selflessness and generosity.
