HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Farmers Grain Company of Dorans on 100 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Farmers Grain Company celebrated its 100th anniversary on July 30, 2006; it has the distinction of having the same name and being in the same location as when it was founded 100 years ago; and

WHEREAS, The original co-op was started with 84 stockholders and the company now has 485 patrons; Farmers Grain has a capacity of 2.6 million bushels, and it is expected that as corn and soybean yields increase and demand grows for renewable fuels, so will the demand for space; and

WHEREAS, When it was first founded, farmers brought ear corn in wagons; today, the corn comes shelled and hauled in semis; the harvest is completed much faster today than in years past; and

WHEREAS, Farmers Grain is successful because of the loyalty of its customers and the commitment of the company to work to provide quality services to farmers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Farmers Grain Company on 100 years of service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Farmers Grain Company as an expression of our esteem and with best wishes for the future.
