HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The House is pleased to recognize achievements of the citizens of this State; and

WHEREAS, William R. Brett is a 2006 inductee into the Leo High School Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Brett was born on July 16, 1933, graduated from Little Flower Elementary School in 1947, Leo High School in 1951, and attended Notre Dame University for 2 years; and

WHEREAS, He has been the owner of Automotive Painter's Supply for 36 years; and

WHEREAS, During his attendance at Leo, Mr. Brett immersed himself in the school's activities as a member of the Knights of Blessed Sacrament, the swim team, and heavy weight basketball under Coach Red Gleason who called his team "a fighting outfit"; and

WHEREAS, He helped the Leo Lions through a tough 1950-1951 Catholic League Season; and

WHEREAS, There were tougher seasons ahead for Leo High School and Bill Brett was out in front making calls to classmates in order to build one of the most significant Class Scholarship Funds in the school's fiscal arsenal; and

WHEREAS, Bill Brett is the first to show up when his school needs him; he has reached out to private foundations and helped secure an annual unrestricted grant; and

WHEREAS, As owner of Automotive Painters Supply Company of Chicago, Bill has helped Leo refinish many of its vehicles; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Brett is a member of the Leo High School Alumni Association, the President of the Mother McAuley High School Fathers Club and has been a member for almost 18 years, he is the Most Holy Redeemer Girls and Boys Basketball Coach, a member of the Most Holy Redeemer Parish Council, a member of the Most Holy Redeemer School Board, a member of the Truman College, Board of Advisory, Washburn Trade School, Board of Advisory, has received the ASIA Automotive Trade Organization, Board of Advisory Award, and the Catherine McAuley Leadership Award, 2005; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor William R. Brett on his 2006 induction into the Leo High School Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to William R. Brett as a token of our esteem.
