HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Dennis "Denny" Burrell of Mattoon on Thursday, April 6, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Burrell was born on February 11, 1943, in Mattoon to Leonard and Marjorie (Carter) Burrell; he married Vicki David on December 26, 1990; and

WHEREAS, He was vice president of Coles Together; he was formerly employed with ICTC of Mattoon and GTE Telephone Company in Georgia and Florida; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Mattoon Kiwanis Club, Mattoon High School Booster Club, former president of The Mattoon Letterman's Club, and member of the Letterman's Club Hall of Fame; he was also a longtime coach and supporter of Mattoon Youth Baseball and Football and an avid fan of the Cardinals baseball team; and

WHEREAS, Co-workers remember him as hardworking and willing to let others be in the spotlight; he was persistent and likeable and was devoted to his family and community; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Dennis "Denny" Burrell has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Vicki; his children, Wendi Haslett, Steve Burrell, Bryan Burrell and wife Krista, and Dustin David; his brothers, Bill Burrell and wife Sheila and Chris Burrell and wife Barb; his sister, Karen White and husband David; and his former wife and mother of Wendi, Steve, and Bryan, Carolyn Burrell; his parents and two brothers preceded him in death; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dennis "Denny" Burrell, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest condolences.
