| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Rotary is an organization of business and |
| 3 |
| professional persons united worldwide to provide humanitarian |
| 4 |
| service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and |
| 5 |
| help build goodwill and peace in the world; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster |
| 7 |
| the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise by |
| 8 |
| demonstrating a commitment to the Four Avenues of Service: Club |
| 9 |
| Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, and |
| 10 |
| International Service; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The mottos of Rotary are "He Profits Most Who |
| 12 |
| Serves Best" and "Service Above Self"; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Rotarians are committed to the 4-Way Test: "Of the |
| 14 |
| things we think, say, and do" 1. It is the Truth? 2. Is it Fair |
| 15 |
| to all concerned? 3. Will it build Goodwill and Better |
| 16 |
| Friendships? 4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The organizational meeting of the Macomb Rotary |
| 18 |
| Club was held on December 5, 1919 at the Pace Hotel; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Macomb was chartered February |
| 20 |
| 4, 1920; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 23 |
| we recognize and congratulate the Rotary Club of Macomb on the |
| 24 |
| occasion of its 85th anniversary on February 4, 2005 and extend |
| 25 |
| our sincere appreciation to the Club for the fellowship, |
| 26 |
| community service, and contributions it provides to the |
| 27 |
| citizens of Macomb; and be it further
