HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Rotary is an organization of business and
3 professional persons united worldwide to provide humanitarian
4 service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and
5 help build goodwill and peace in the world; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster
7 the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise by
8 demonstrating a commitment to the Four Avenues of Service: Club
9 Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, and
10 International Service; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The mottos of Rotary are "He Profits Most Who
12 Serves Best" and "Service Above Self"; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Rotarians are committed to the 4-Way Test: "Of the
14 things we think, say, and do" 1. It is the Truth? 2. Is it Fair
15 to all concerned? 3. Will it build Goodwill and Better
16 Friendships? 4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The organizational meeting of the Macomb Rotary
18 Club was held on December 5, 1919 at the Pace Hotel; and
 
19     WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Macomb was chartered February
20 4, 1920; therefore, be it
 
21     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23 we recognize and congratulate the Rotary Club of Macomb on the
24 occasion of its 85th anniversary on February 4, 2005 and extend
25 our sincere appreciation to the Club for the fellowship,
26 community service, and contributions it provides to the
27 citizens of Macomb; and be it further
 
28     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
