SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

705 ILCS 35/2f-10 new

Amends the Circuit Courts Act. Adds an at large judgeship to the 22nd judicial circuit (McHenry County) to be filled at the 2008 general election and not by appointment before that election.

AN ACT concerning courts.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Circuit Courts Act is amended by adding Section 2f-10 as follows:

(705 ILCS 35/2f-10 new)

Sec. 2f-10. Additional judgeship; 22nd circuit. In addition to the number of circuit judges otherwise authorized by this Act, there shall be one additional at large circuit judge elected in the 22nd circuit. The additional judgeship provided by this Section shall first be filled by election at the 2008 general election and shall not be filled by appointment before that election.
