SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

410 ILCS 80/4.5 new

Amends the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act. Provides that smoking is prohibited in any portion of a building used in whole or in part as a student dormitory that is owned and operated or otherwise utilized by a public or private institution of higher education. Effective immediately.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act is amended by adding Section 4.5 as follows:

(410 ILCS 80/4.5 new)

Sec. 4.5. Smoking prohibited in student dormitories. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, smoking is prohibited in any portion of a building used in whole or in part as a student dormitory that is owned and operated or otherwise utilized by a public or private institution of higher education.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
