HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House or Representatives wish to congratulate Vanessa Birchler on the occasion of being elected the 2024 national president of Junior Chamber International (JCI) USA; and

WHEREAS, JCI USA, also known as the Jaycees, is an organization dedicated to promoting leadership and business development through acts of social service; and

WHEREAS, The 104th national president in JCI USA history, Vanessa Birchler has had a long and successful career within JCI, starting when she joined the New Baden Jaycees in January 2007; at her local chapter, she previously held many roles, including management vice president and treasurer, and served as chapter president from 2008 to 2009; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa Birchler has also held numerous positions with the State Team of the Illinois Jaycees, including serving as district director of Region V and program manager of the Program Management Guides (PMG); she also served as programming vice president in 2015, administrative vice president in 2016, membership vice president in 2017, and the 87th state president in 2018; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa Birchler has worked for JCI USA since 2019, initially serving as conference organizing committee director and co-program manager for Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA); she then served as national vice president under the area of partnerships in 2021 and chief of staff in 2022; she was elected national deputy president in 2023; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa Birchler has received many honors throughout her tenure with JCI; for her outstanding service as a state officer, she was awarded the R. Bradley Trafton Memorial Award by JCI USA in 2014, 2015, and 2016; she was recognized with JCI Senatorship #74430 by the New Baden Jaycees in 2015; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa Birchler and her husband, Mike, reside in Okawville, where they enjoy spending time with their niece and nephew, bowling, trail riding in their all utility vehicle, and serving the community with fellow Jaycees through their home chapter; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Vanessa Birchler on being elected the 2024 national president of Junior Chamber International (JCI) USA, also known as the Jaycees, and we commend her for her long history of service to her community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Vanessa Birchler as an expression of our esteem and respect.
