HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wishes to congratulate the 2022-2023 7th-and-8th grade girls basketball team of Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School for winning the Chicago Public School district-wide championship, CPS Score!; and

WHEREAS, Coach Mark Klein of the girls Bell Blaze team remains committed to girls athletics and has instilled the values of hard work and sportsmanship in his players; and

WHEREAS, Assistant Coach Jessica Ransom, Jermaine Marks, Katie Bermingham, John Martin, Juan Gonzales, and Nicole Tsamoulos have also been crucial to the success of the Bell Blaze team; and

WHEREAS, Coach Mark Klein began the girls basketball program in 1993 and has been head coach ever since; and

WHEREAS, This marks Coach Mark Klein's third consecutive championship win and the team's 76th consecutive district game win; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Bell Blaze team are Tilly Paulson, Zohra Atmani, Eliana Snopek, Vega Ransom-Marks, Ava Martin, Mila Maksimovic, Mary Hickman, Alana Kroot, Nicole Toledo, Zinnia Meyer, Sofia Gonzalez, Lyla Hamilton, Madeline Snyder, Allison Reynolds, and Callie Possinger; and

WHEREAS, Teamwork and game plans that allow every player to contribute were crucial to the team's success; and

WHEREAS, The team played exemplary defense, understanding that cooperation in these situations would allow for fast-breaks and opportunities to take chances; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School on the district-wide championships of their 7th-and-8th grade girls basketball team; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School to highlight the impactful role of sportsmanship and athleticism on young people.
