SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kermit T. "Bud" Stevenson Jr. of Moline, who passed away on June 12, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stevenson was born to Kermit "Jiggs" and Sylvia (Spence) Stevenson Sr. in Rock Island on January 9, 1943; his mother passed away shortly after childbirth, and he was raised by his father and stepmother Ada; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Linda Briseno at Gloria Day Church in Rock Island on September 25, 1971; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stevenson worked for International Harvester Farmall in Rock Island for 23 years; after the closing of Farmall, he and his wife owned and operated Stevenson Cleaning and Painting; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stevenson was a Boy Scout Leader; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stevenson enjoyed working in his yard and received two awards from the city of Rock Island for lawn beautification; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stevenson enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking; he and his family loved traveling to the Wisconsin Dells and their annual Father's Day trips to Galena; he ran in several local 5K and 10K races and enjoyed collecting frogs; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stevenson is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Kermit "Tom" (Krista) Stevenson III and Kim Stevenson (Mike Sersland); his grandchildren, Violet Stevenson and Alyssa Nunes; his great-granddaughter, Brinlee; his great-granddaughter on the way; and his sister, Julie (Lyle) Wadsager; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kermit T. "Bud" Stevenson Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bud Stevenson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
