SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 420/3-108 new

Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Provides that no legislator shall represent a client whose private interest is in direct conflict with the State of Illinois for personal financial benefit on behalf of himself or herself or a company he or she represents.

AN ACT concerning government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act is amended by adding Section 3-108 as follows:

(5 ILCS 420/3-108 new)

Sec. 3-108. Representation conflict. No legislator shall represent a client whose private interest is in direct conflict with the State of Illinois for personal financial benefit on behalf of himself or herself or a company he or she represents.
