HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Danny Picarella on the occasion of his retirement from the Village of Glen Carbon after 24 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Danny Picarella started with the Street Department in April 1998, where he aided in the operation and maintenance of Glen Carbon's roads and recreational parks; and

WHEREAS, Danny Picarella completed a continuing education course at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2001, enabling him to gain the necessary certifications to transfer to the Water Department, where he was then responsible for the operation and maintenance of 90 miles of water mains, 85 miles of sanitary sewer mains, and 29 lift pumping stations; and

WHEREAS, Danny Picarella is a true public servant who has also spent the past decades meeting the needs of his communities in various other positions in addition to his work within the Village of Glen Carbon, including working with the Glen Carbon Fire Department and serving as a trustee and the highway commissioner of Edwardsville Township; and

WHEREAS, Danny Picarella has worked in every position to serve the community to the best of his abilities, including working to modernize, streamline, and improve efficiency of village and township processes; and

WHEREAS, Danny Picarella retired from the Water Department of the Village of Glen Carbon in August 2022, leaving behind a legacy of public service and devotion to his community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Danny Picarella on his retirement and commend his dedication and service to the residents of Glen Carbon and Edwardsville; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Danny Picarella as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
