HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County (VACKC) on the occasion of its 20 years in service; and

WHEREAS, The VACKC, in response to the need in the local veteran community for financial assistance and processing Veterans Affairs (VA) claims, was founded in December 2002; and

WHEREAS, Pursuant to the Military Veterans Assistance Act (MVAA), the VACKC has served since its inception as the central office in providing needed services to Kendall County's veterans and their families; and

WHEREAS, The staff of the VACKC works diligently in the community to educate veterans and their families about the resources available to them, thereby significantly increasing awareness of both the office and veterans issues over the last several years; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the years, the VACKC has assisted veterans and their families in a number of ways, including thwarting numerous evictions and home foreclosures, retaining or restoring electricity and heating, and providing financial assistance to veterans and their families for food and necessities; and

WHEREAS, Federal dollars paid to Kendall County veterans or their survivors through VA compensation and pension benefits now totals more than $21 million per year, just shy of $2 million in new monies this year-to-date; and

WHEREAS, In terms of the VACKC's return on investment to the community, for every taxpayer dollar levied to the organization, just over $66.00 is brought back to Kendall County through VA benefits earned and acquired by veterans through the efforts of VACKC staff; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County (VACKC) on its 20th anniversary and wish the organization continued success in the years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the VACKC as an expression of our esteem and respect.
