HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, David Sidney has passionately served the Rockford community for the last 14 years, including the past 3 years as the executive director of Transform Rockford; and

WHEREAS, David Sidney has been instrumental in strategizing, planning, and implementing projects to drive community improvement and make transformative change to benefit Rockfordians; and

WHEREAS, David Sidney has overseen successful initiatives, including Ready to Learn, a collaboration of community resources to enhance kindergarten readiness, Great Neighborhoods, a program helping residents identify strengths in their area and work together to improve their surroundings, and launching the Community Scorecard, a tool designed to measure Rockford's success in becoming a "Top 25" community by 2025; and

WHEREAS, David Sidney has helped guide the community to better outcomes; in 2021, he was able to report that Rockford has made gains in college degree attainment, mental health services, the reduction of property crime, and the reduction of poverty; and

WHEREAS, David Sidney has led Transform Rockford's collaboration both on local initiatives, including the Family Peace Center to combat human trafficking and support domestic violence survivors, and with national partners, including Bridges Out of Poverty to enhance knowledge of the effects of poverty; and

WHEREAS, David Sidney has served his community by donating his time as an Alignment Rockford Operating Board Member, a Klehm Arboretum & Botanical Gardens Planning Committee Member, a Rockford Mass Transit District Board of Trustees Member, and in many other ways; and

WHEREAS, On May 31, 2021, David Sidney will end his tenure as executive director of Transform Rockford; he is leaving behind an impressive legacy of improvement for the Rockford community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend David Sidney for his service and dedication to the Rockford community and wish him happiness and great success in his future efforts; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to David Sidney as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
