HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Pat Clark is a long-time resident of Independence
3Park who continually dedicates her time towards making the
4Independence Park neighborhood a great place to call home; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat Clark has faithfully served on the board of
6the Greater Independence Park Neighborhood Association (GIPNA)
7since its inception more than 25 years ago; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Pat Clark initiated the farmers market in
9Independence Park almost 20 years ago and ran it
10single-handedly for 12 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Pat Clark serves on the editorial staff of the
12GIPNA newsletter; she is also responsible for printing,
13selling ad space, and distributing the newsletter throughout
14the neighborhood; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Pat Clark was instrumental in obtaining official
16designation of the neighborhood garden located at the end of
17Monticello Avenue by the Kennedy Expressway; with the help of
18other volunteers, she also tirelessly maintains its beautiful
19condition; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Pat Clark routinely cleans up trash from the

1cul-de-sac at the end of Central Park and off the north bound
2ramp at Addison to the Kennedy Expressway; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Pat Clark does not do these things for her
4community out of duty, obligation, or for recognition; she
5does these things because they need to be done and she feels
6she is able to do them; she is known for going beyond what
7anyone expects or asks of her; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Pat Clark resides in Independence Park with her
9husband, George; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we declare November 6, 2021 as Pat Clark Community Service Day
13in the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That on this day we urge citizens to emulate Pat
15Clark's acts of kindness by caring for their respective
16neighborhoods, including picking up trash, checking on
17neighbors, volunteering for a neighborhood program, and
18performing other acts that would benefit their communities;
19and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Pat Clark with our sincere appreciation for her
