| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 607, chartered by Bethany Union | 3 | | Church in Chicago, is celebrating their 100 year anniversary | 4 | | of service on May 19, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, In the course of 100 years, Troop 607 has seen | 6 | | hundreds of boys join its ranks, won thousands of merit | 7 | | badges, and volunteered countless service hours, with 240 boys | 8 | | becoming Eagle Scouts; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Since World War II, several members of Troop 607 | 10 | | have served in the military; of those, eight scouts from Troop | 11 | | 607 made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives in active | 12 | | military service; they were Edward Dougherty, Kenneth Gilson, | 13 | | James Hare, William Kline, Bert Kullerstrand, Charles Lassman, | 14 | | Bonneville Smith, and Jack Snyder; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Scouts of Troop 607 have become first responders, | 16 | | doctors, lawyers, business owners, scout leaders, fathers, and | 17 | | other distinguished members of society; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, For 100 years, Troop 607 scouts have lived up to | 19 | | the Boy Scout oath and law, dedicating their lives to serving | 20 | | their communities and country by being trustworthy, loyal, | 21 | | helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, |

| 1 | | thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent; therefore, be it
| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 3 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 4 | | we congratulate Troop 607 on their 100 honorable years in | 5 | | service and wish them many more productive years; and be it | 6 | | further
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That we remember the eight fallen soldiers of | 8 | | Troop 607 who gave their lives for our country's freedom; and | 9 | | be it further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to Boy Scout Troop 607 as an expression of our esteem | 12 | | and respect.
