HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jeanne Hebeisen of Elgin, who passed away on November 13, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Hebeisen was born to Lee and Emily (Johanek) Northcliffe on April 21, 1927; she earned her bachelor's degree in Math from the University of Wisconsin; she later returned to school to earn a degree in Computer Science; she married Neil Hebeisen in 1950; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Hebeisen worked in her husband's law practice while her children were young, briefly taught math at Elgin Community College, and then had a career as a systems analyst at Safety-Kleen; when times were lean, she took a second job at night with an answering service in order to earn supplemental income; and

WHEREAS, After retirement, Jeanne Hebeisen volunteered for a number of organizations, including the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Head Start, and the YWCA; she also read to children in elementary schools and wrote the AAUW newsletter and the Elgin Symphony League treasurer report; she received several awards for her volunteer work over the years; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Hebeisen enjoyed gardening, creating custom cards for birthdays, traveling, playing the piano, reading her way through piles of old newspapers, magazines, and books stacked around her house, painting her house, and spoiling her grandchildren; she was a huge sports fan and rarely missed a Chicago Cubs game or any of the University of Wisconsin basketball or football games; she regularly attended Elgin Symphony concerts, Goodman Theater productions, and Great Books discussions; she was an avid fan of PBS, particularly Masterpiece Theater and Mystery; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Hebeisen is survived by her children, Cheryl, Keith, Jill, Nancy, Julie, and Brian; her grandchildren, David, Gregor, Melanie, Ken, Travis, and Marina; her great-grandchildren, Noah and Sasha; her chosen grandchildren, John and Matt; her chosen daughter, Linda; her numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog, Starr; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jeanne Hebeisen and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeanne Hebeisen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
