HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor our dedicated colleague,
4Representative Denyse Wang Stoneback, and thank her for her
5service to the State and her community; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Stoneback was born and raised in Skokie, and
7she graduated from Niles North High School; she later earned
8her bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law Studies, and Spanish
9from Marquette University and a master's degree from the
10University of Madrid; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Prior to serving in the General Assembly, Rep.
12Stoneback taught English and translation; she also worked as a
13writer, editor, and project manager in the field of
14educational publishing for years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rep. Stoneback is a community leader and
16trailblazer; after the deadly Sandy Hook Elementary School
17shooting, she founded the nonprofit organization People for a
18Safer Society, which aims to educate people and raise
19awareness on gun violence; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Since joining the General Assembly, Rep.
21Stoneback has passionately addressed issues that are important

1to the 16th District; she championed legislation that protects
2victims of domestic violence and promotes awareness of firearm
3restraining orders and increases training on their
4implementation; she also helped pass legislation to increase
5student access to mental health resources; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rep. Stoneback served on numerous committees,
7working groups, and task forces that were pivotal to the
8progress of Illinois; she co-founded the Gun Violence
9Prevention Caucus to advocate for legislation that would
10protect all Illinoisans; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rep. Stoneback is an example of perseverance,
12resilience, and dedication to the service of her constituents;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we congratulate Representative Denyse Wang Stoneback on her
17accomplishments, thank her for her service, and wish her all
18the best in her future endeavors; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Rep. Stoneback as an expression of our respect
21and esteem.
