 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn of the death of Edward J.
 4    Lipscomb Jr. of Naperville on February 24, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Lipscomb was born in  Aurora  and  graduated
 6    from  Naperville  Community High School, where he lettered in
 7    football,  wrestling,  and  track;  he  was  named   to   the
 8    All-Conference  football  team in 1958 and the All-State team
 9    in 1959; he received his school's Grappler Award in 1960; and

10        WHEREAS,   Mr.   Lipscomb   attended   Eastern   Illinois
11    University for a year on a  wrestling  scholarship;  he  left
12    college  and  began  working  for  Dean's  Clothing  Store in
13    Naperville; during his 28 years there, he worked his  way  up
14    from stock boy to buyer and merchandiser; and

15        WHEREAS,  In  1989,  he  and  partner Steve Potter opened
16    Hinsdale Clothiers on York Road; the men's  shop  specializes
17    in   custom-made   clothing   and   designer   fashions   and
18    accessories; and

19        WHEREAS,  Mr. Lipscomb enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting,
20    skiing, and cooking, and especially spending time with  those
21    he loved; and

22        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Lipscomb's  passing will be deeply felt by
23    many, especially his wife of  16  years,  Sandra;  his  sons,
24    William  Brown,  Scott Brown, and Bruk; his daughter, Kristen
25    Albano; his two sisters, Mary Dalton and Martha  Miller;  his
26    former  wife,  Mary  Lou  Lipscomb;  and  his  granddaughter;
27    therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
29    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the  passing
30    of  Edward  J. Lipscomb Jr. along with all who knew and loved
31    him and extend our sincere  condolences  to  his  family  and

 1    friends; and be it further

 2        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 3    presented to the family of Edward J. Lipscomb Jr.
