SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Martha "Helen" Barton, formerly of Collinsville, on Friday, December 17, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Martha "Helen" Reuter was born on September 25, 1934, in Salem to Gustav and Mildred, nee Williams, Reuter; she married Lawrence Barton on October 3, 1953, in Iola; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Barton was employed for many years as an administrative assistant at Crawford & Co. in Belleville; she was a member of the Collinsville Church of Christ; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Martha "Helen" Barton has been deeply felt by many, especially her husband, Lawrence; her children, Rhonda (Patrick) Linders, Ron (Cheryl) Barton, Robin (Tom) Long, Rachael Arnold, and Kyle Barton; her seven grandchildren; her great-grandson; her sisters, Charlotte June Liggett, Anna Louise "Tuddie" Gibbons, Alice Britton, and Peggy Fairchild; and her many nieces and nephews; she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Rodger Lewis Barton; and her brother, Herman Reuter; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Martha "Helen" Barton, and we extend our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our sincere condolences.
