SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Corporal Joshua Douglas Palmer of rural
3 Blandinsville died November 8, 2004 when his bulldozer fell
4 into the Euphrates River near Fallujah; he was building a
5 fighting position on the Fallujah Peninsula when the ground
6 gave way; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was born July 7, 1980 in Carthage, the son of
8 Doug and Carol Hasten Palmer; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He attended grade school in LaHarpe and graduated
10 from LaHarpe High School in 1999; he enlisted in the U.S.
11 Marine Corps in 1999, and served until 2003; on June 30, 2004,
12 he re-enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and was
13 serving with the Engineer Company C, based in Peoria; his unit
14 was deployed to Iraq in September; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He loved his family, motorcycles, and working with
16 his hands; he attended the Abundant Life Church in LaHarpe; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his maternal
18 grandparents, Carl Junior and Mabel Hasten; and
 
19     WHEREAS, The passing of Corporal Joshua Douglas Palmer will
20 be deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Doug and Carol
21 Hasten Palmer; his sister, Amanda Palmer; his grandparents,
22 Barb and Rex Stewart and Hollis Palmer and Donna Burnett; and
23 several aunts, uncles and cousins; therefore, be it
 
24     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that together with his
26 family, friends, community, and the citizens of this State and
27 this great nation, we mourn the death of Corporal Joshua
28 Douglas Palmer and we extend to his family and friends our
29 sincerest condolences; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Corporal Joshua Douglas Palmer as an
3 expression of our deepest sympathy for their loss.
