SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, we have learned with great sadness that Ms. Eloise
3 Smith passed away on August 16, 2004; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Ms. Smith was born in Chicago, Illinois on March
5 19, 1928, the only child of Minnie and Charlie Shephard; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Eloise Smith graduated from Englewood High School
7 in 1945, and continued her education at South East City
8 College, majoring in Computer Science; and
 
9     WHEREAS, for over thirty years Eloise Smith served the
10 community admirably in multiple administrative capacities with
11 the Chicago Housing Authority ; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Ms. Smith helped form an investment group, and
13 enjoyed a bountiful life traveling, dancing, and socializing
14 with friends; and
 
15     WHEREAS, the death of Eloise Smith is a great loss to her
16 family and friends, including her daughter Diane, son Cedric,
17 Sr., grandson Cedric, Jr., great-grandson Joshua,
18 daughter-in-law Yvette, and innumerable other relatives and
19 friends; therefore, be it
 
20     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
21 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our deep
22 sorrow at the passing of Eloise Smith, and that we offer our
23 heartfelt sympathy to her family; and be it further
 
24     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to the family of Eloise Smith with our sincere
26 condolences.
