SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, we have learned with great sadness that Ms. Eloise Smith passed away on August 16, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Smith was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 19, 1928, the only child of Minnie and Charlie Shephard; and

WHEREAS, Eloise Smith graduated from Englewood High School in 1945, and continued her education at South East City College, majoring in Computer Science; and

WHEREAS, for over thirty years Eloise Smith served the community admirably in multiple administrative capacities with the Chicago Housing Authority ; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Smith helped form an investment group, and enjoyed a bountiful life traveling, dancing, and socializing with friends; and

WHEREAS, the death of Eloise Smith is a great loss to her family and friends, including her daughter Diane, son Cedric, Sr., grandson Cedric, Jr., great-grandson Joshua, daughter-in-law Yvette, and innumerable other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our deep sorrow at the passing of Eloise Smith, and that we offer our heartfelt sympathy to her family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eloise Smith with our sincere condolences.
