SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Illinois Army
4 National Guard Specialist Jessica Lynn Cawvey of Mahomet on
5 October 6, 2004 in Fallujah, Iraq; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Specialist Cawvey, 21, was killed when an
7 improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Specialist Cawvey graduated from Mahomet-Seymour
9 High School and earned an associate's degree in business,
10 graduating with honors from Parkland College in Champaign; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Specialist Cawvey was a proud member of the
12 Illinois National Guard Transportation Unit 1544th, First
13 Battalion, 65th Troop Command; she was awarded the Army Good
14 Conduct, Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star medals for exemplary
15 conduct, efficiency and fidelity during service; and
 
16     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her grandparents, the
17 Reverend Clarence Cawvey, Sr. and Glenda Cawvey; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Her death will be deeply felt by all who knew and
19 loved her, especially her parents, Kevin and Sandra McGlasson
20 Cawvey; her daughter, Sierra Cawvey; her brothers, Kevin
21 Cawvey, Jr. and Joshua Cawvey; her grandparents, Howard and
22 Donna McGlasson; and several aunts and uncles; therefore, be it
 
23     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that together with her
25 family, friends, and the citizens of this State and this great
26 nation, we mourn the passing of Illinois Army National Guard
27 Specialist Jessica Lynn Cawvey, and extend to her family and
28 friends our sincerest condolences; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Illinois Army National Guard
3 Specialist Jessica Lynn Cawvey as an expression of our deepest
4 sympathy.
