SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Illinois Army National Guard Specialist Jessica Lynn Cawvey of Mahomet on October 6, 2004 in Fallujah, Iraq; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Cawvey, 21, was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Cawvey graduated from Mahomet-Seymour High School and earned an associate's degree in business, graduating with honors from Parkland College in Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Cawvey was a proud member of the Illinois National Guard Transportation Unit 1544th, First Battalion, 65th Troop Command; she was awarded the Army Good Conduct, Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star medals for exemplary conduct, efficiency and fidelity during service; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her grandparents, the Reverend Clarence Cawvey, Sr. and Glenda Cawvey; and

WHEREAS, Her death will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her parents, Kevin and Sandra McGlasson Cawvey; her daughter, Sierra Cawvey; her brothers, Kevin Cawvey, Jr. and Joshua Cawvey; her grandparents, Howard and Donna McGlasson; and several aunts and uncles; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that together with her family, friends, and the citizens of this State and this great nation, we mourn the passing of Illinois Army National Guard Specialist Jessica Lynn Cawvey, and extend to her family and friends our sincerest condolences; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Illinois Army National Guard Specialist Jessica Lynn Cawvey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
