SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with great sadness of the death of Henrietta Moss of
4 Harrisburg on Tuesday, September 14, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mrs. Moss was born October 5, 1925 in Metropolis;
6 her parents were William McKinley and Stella Goodman Motley;
7 she married Walter T. Moss, Sr. on September 6, 1947 in
8 Mississippi; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mrs. Moss was a 1943 graduate of Harrisburg
10 Township High School; she was employed as a cook at Malan
11 Junior High School, where she was well known for her recipes,
12 especially for her divinity recipe; and
 
13     WHEREAS, At an early age, Mrs. Moss confessed Christ; she
14 was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where
15 she served as a member of the Mothers Board; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Mrs. Moss also served on various other
17 auxiliaries, including the Homemakers Extension Loyalty Unit,
18 the Lincoln School Alumni Association, and the Community
19 Helping Hands Club; she was formerly a member of the Saline
20 County Democratic Women's Organization; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Henrietta Moss will be deeply felt
22 by many, especially her eleven surviving children, Charlotte
23 Taborn, Miriam (Delbert) Clingman, Nona (James) Rice, Beverly
24 Sanders, Winifred Moss, William Moss, Randall Moss, Raymond
25 Moss, Cecil (Doris) Turner, Elizabeth Jones, and Lowell (Laura)
26 Moss; her forty-nine grandchildren; her sixty
27 great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; and a
28 host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and
 
29     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her

1 husband; her son, Walter T. Moss, Jr.; her daughter, Debra
2 Wilkins; her sister, Beatrice Medlock; and six grandchildren;
3 therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
5 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
6 Henrietta Moss along with all who knew and loved her and extend
7 our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it
8 further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Henrietta Moss as an expression of
11 our deepest sympathy.
