SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Clarence Evans on Thursday,
4 August 26, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Clarence was born on July 14, 1922 to Clarence
6 Evans, Sr. and Nannie Sherrod Evans Holliday; he joined St.
7 Joseph's Catholic Church, where he became a loyal and committed
8 member of the choir and the Eucharistic Ministers Service; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Clarence married Dorothy Eugenia Long on July 11,
10 1948; to this marriage two sons were born; Clarence and Dorothy
11 were married for 56 years; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Clarence graduated from the public schools of East
13 St. Louis School District 189; he went on to receive his
14 pharmacy degree in 1950 from the University of Illinois at
15 Urbana-Champaign; he was then employed by the United States
16 Postal Service until his retirement; he also worked for Sykes
17 Drug Store as a pharmacist for many years; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He is remembered as a skilled and hard worker who
19 put others' needs before his own; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Evans has been deeply felt by
21 many, especially his wife, Mrs. Dorothy E. Evans; his son, Mr.
22 Gerald E. Evans; his granddaughters, Mrs. Erika (Darian)
23 Cummings and Mrs. Danielle (Tony) Longhibler; his
24 great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Elijah, and Analiese
25 Longhibler; his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Pierce, Mrs.
26 Marjorie McCree, Mrs. LaSaundia Fordson, and Mrs. Rita Pelly;
27 his brothers-in-law, Mr. Ollie (Marie) Jones, Mr. Frank Jones,
28 and Mr. Leroy (Jamie) Jones; his great-aunts, Leitha Floyd and
29 Gruenetta Coates; and his many nieces, nephews, other
30 relatives, and friends; he was preceded in death by his son,

1 Mr. Marvin G. Evans; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4 Clarence Evans, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
5 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6 further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the family of Mr. Evans as an expression of our
9 sincere condolences.
