SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of James Earl "Jim" Holt of Alton on Monday, August 9, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Holt was born on April 28, 1947 in Alton to John J. "Jim" and Emma K. "Kitty" (Sharp) Holt of Godfrey; he married Christy J. Goeken on June 14, 1969 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; and

WHEREAS, After graduation from Alton High School, he attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for three years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Holt valiantly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; he was employed as a communications technician with SBC Ameritech for 34 years and retired in June of 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Holt will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many and enjoyed quality time with his family, especially playing with the grandchildren; he was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Missouri Elks Club, I.B.E.W. Union Local 21, Telephone Pioneers of America, and the VFW Alton Post 1308; he was an avid gardener and fisherman; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Holt has been deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Jim and Kitty Holt; his beloved wife of 35 years, Christy; his daughter, Jennifer L. Curvey; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Beth Holt; his grandchildren, Brittny Holt, Brianna Curvey, Gracey Watson, James Watson, Zac Hildebrand, and Chad Holt; his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Art Thomason; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Cindy Holt and Bill Holt and Liz LaSorca; his father-in-law, George W. Goeken; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Valerie and David Lewis, Mary and Jeff Donahue, Julie and Chris Henkhaus, Anne Hermann, George and Autume Goeken III, and John and Diane Goeken; his many nieces and nephews and other extended family; and his many dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Earl "Jim" Holt, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mr. Holt as an expression of our sincerest condolences.
