SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened to learn of the death of Erman E. "Wink" Schairer of El Paso on August 9, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Schairer was born June 7, 1942, in Sycamore, a son of Louis and M. Jean Lieving Schairer; he married Sandra J. Penning on September 4, 1965, in Alton; and

WHEREAS, He received his bachelors and masters of science degrees in agriculture from the University of Illinois; in 1999, he retired from his position at Heartland Bank in El Paso as senior vice president and farm manager; he served on the faculty of the Illinois Bankers Association's Agriculture Lending School; and he was a retired accredited farm manager designated by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Normal, where he served on the church finance committee; he also served on the Board of Directors for the Centrillio Council of the Girl Scouts; he was a member of El Paso Kiwanis, and board member and member of the El Paso Golf Club; he served on the Woodford County Zoning Board of Review, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Nabor House Fraternity; and

WHEREAS, On Thanksgiving Day 2003, "Wink" and his daughter, Cindy, completed the half marathon in Atlanta, Georgia; he enjoyed his retirement, especially playing golf, going to University of Illinois football games with his wife Sandy, and spending time with his children; he enjoyed his life, his family, his friends, and he was a happy man; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Erman E. "Wink" Schairer will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Sandy; his two daughters, Cynthia J. (Paul Kessler) and Sara J. (Jeremy) Holly; his son, Steven E. Schairer; his brother, Louis E. (Sherry) Schairer; his sisters, Kay (Roger) Jacobson and Julie (Philip) Snave; and his brother-in-law, Jim Andersen; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marilou Schairer and Karen Andersen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Erman E. "Wink" Schairer along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Erman E. "Wink" Schairer as a token of our deepest sympathy.
