SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Verna A. Greene of Libertyville, formerly a Highland Park resident, on February 13, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Verna Greene was born on October 3, 1899, in Malta and was raised in DeKalb; she lived in Highland Park since 1928 until six years ago; and

WHEREAS, She was a member of Bethany Methodist Church in Highland Park and the Highland Park Women's Club; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Verna A. Greene will be deeply felt by many, especially her daughter, Donna Hartman; her grandchildren, Donn (Audrey) Hartman, Todd (Jenny) Hartman, Richard (Ellen) Greene, and Susan (Thomas) Conway; her eight great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Eleanor Greene; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Lang; by her husband, Bert D. Greene, a former teacher at Elm Place School; and her son, B. Quentin Greene; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Verna A. Greene along with all who knew and loved her and extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Verna A. Greene as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
