SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Robert Williams, Sr. on Saturday, December 6, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Robert Williams, Sr. was born to the late Leroy and Gertrude Williams on February 8, 1940 in Schlater, Mississippi; he spent his younger years in Grenada and Greenwood, Mississippi; his family moved to Chicago in 1955; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Williams met Peggy Lowe in 1964; they were married on February 25, 1965; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Williams was a machinist, working at Bunte Brothers, Melville Confectionary, Crane Steel, Stanadyne Incorporated, and Elkay; he retired in February of 2002; he was a member of United Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Williams has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Peggy; his children, Robert, Jr. and Charmaine; his grandchildren, Brandon, Robert III, Meshia, and Christopher; his sisters, Lena Stewart, Alma (Sam) Stewart, Emma Terrell, Julia Williams, and Verlee Johnson; his brothers, Freddie Williams and Frankie (Felicia) Williams; his father-in-law, George Lowe, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Myjean Lowe; his brothers-in-law, George (Linda) Lowe, Jr. and Dwight (Jacque) Lowe; and many other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Robert Williams, Sr., and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mr. Williams as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
