 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn  of  the  death  of  Mrs.
 4    Earnestine  Collins  of  East  St. Louis on Friday, March 28,
 5    2003; and

 6        WHEREAS, Mrs. Collins was  born  on  August  7,  1938  in
 7    Friarspoint,  Mississippi  to Amos and Josephine Sanders; she
 8    married Sidney Collins, Sr., on June 8, 1957; they had  eight
 9    children  together;  her son, Master Sidney Collins, III, and
10    her husband preceded her in death; and

11        WHEREAS, Mrs. Collins was nicknamed "Stine";  she  was  a
12    member  of  Mt.  Paran  Full  Gospel Church in East St. Louis
13    where she served on the Mother's Board and worked on the roof
14    project to enhance the church facility; and

15        WHEREAS, Mrs.  Collins  was  a  homemaker,  an  assistant
16    contractor  to  her  husband,  a cook in the former "Sidney's
17    Restaurant", and a politician in her own right; and

18        WHEREAS, The  passing  of  Earnestine  Collins  has  been
19    deeply felt by many, especially her four sons, Leroy Collins,
20    Kenneth  Collins,  Michael  Collins, and Gregory Collins; her
21    three daughters, Barbara (Michael) Ray, Naomi  Purchase,  and
22    Lisa  Collins;  her  two brothers, Richard (Margaret) Sanders
23    and Raymond (Annette)  Sanders;  her  nine  sisters,  Dorothy
24    (Jesse)  Talbert, Gracie Black, Bertha Bryant, Bobbie (James)
25    Gilliam, Marcella  Pearson,  Charlotte  Jefferson,  Josephine
26    Sanders,  Olivia  Sanders,  and Arene (Michael) Rayfield; her
27    many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her  five  aunts;
28    her  uncle;  her  sisters-in-law;  her  brothers-in-law;  her
29    nieces  and  nephews;  and  many other relatives and friends;
30    therefore, be it

31        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL

 1    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
 2    of Earnestine Collins and extend to her  family  and  friends
 3    our deepest sympathy; and be it further

 4        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 5    presented  to  the  family  of  Earnestine  Collins   as   an
 6    expression  of  our  sincere condolences during their time of
 7    loss.
