 1        AN ACT concerning taxation.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The Property Tax Code is amended by changing
 5    Section 7-5 as follows:

 6        (35 ILCS 200/7-5)
 7        Sec. 7-5.  Creation of Property Tax  Appeal  Board.   The
 8    Property   Tax  Appeal  Board  shall  consist  of  5  members
 9    appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the
10    Senate.  The Governor, with the advice  and  consent  of  the
11    Senate,  shall  designate  one  of the members as Chairperson
12    Chairman.  The Property Tax Appeal  Board  shall  be  totally
13    independent  of the Department.  A vacancy on the Board shall
14    be filled in the same manner  as  original  appointments  are
15    made.
