SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 315/30 new

Amends the Illinois Public Labor Relations Act. Provides that a public employer must make payroll deductions for its employees' union dues for the duration of the contract obligating it to do so, regardless of whether the collective bargaining representative of the employees changes during the contract period. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning public labor relations.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Public Labor Relations Act is amended by adding Section 30 as follows:

(5 ILCS 315/30 new)

Sec. 30. Payroll deduction of union dues. A public employer that is obligated by contract to make payroll deductions for the union dues on behalf of its employees remains obligated for the duration of the contract to make those deductions, regardless of whether the collective bargaining representative of those employees changes during the duration of the contract.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
