SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

725 ILCS 207/20

Amends the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act. Makes technical changes to a Section concerning the nature of the proceedings.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning sexually violent persons.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act is amended by changing Section 20 as follows:

Sec. 20. Civil nature of proceedings. The proceedings under this Act are shall be civil in nature. The provisions of the Civil Practice Law, and all existing and future amendments of that Law shall apply to all proceedings hereunder except as otherwise provided in this Act.
