| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois wish to congratulate the Library at the |
| 4 |
| University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on the acquisition |
| 5 |
| of its ten millionth volume; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is |
| 7 |
| home to the third largest academic research library in the |
| 8 |
| world; on October 10, 2003, the University Library celebrated |
| 9 |
| the acquisition of its ten millionth volume; the U of I is the |
| 10 |
| first public university to reach this milestone; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The volume, "Unlocking Our Past, Building Our |
| 12 |
| Future", was a completely handmade work designed and created by |
| 13 |
| University of Illinois Library Conservator Jennifer Hain |
| 14 |
| Teper; the volume is a compilation of articles written by |
| 15 |
| faculty, staff, and Library Friends, reflecting on the |
| 16 |
| significance of the Library as collection, as place, and as |
| 17 |
| people; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The ten millionth volume was funded by a gift from |
| 19 |
| alumni Al and Phyllis Hallene of Moline, longtime and generous |
| 20 |
| benefactors of the University of Illinois; therefore, be it
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 23 |
| congratulate the Library at the University of Illinois at |
| 24 |
| Urbana-Champaign on the acquisition of its ten millionth |
| 25 |
| volume; and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to the Library at the University of Illinois at |
| 28 |
| Urbana-Champaign as an expression of our esteem.
