1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to recognize the city of Villa Grove, in
4 Douglas County, on the occasion of its Centennial celebration
5 and offer our congratulations on celebrating 100 years as a
6 community; and

7     WHEREAS, The earliest history of Villa Grove dates back to
8 the 1850s; and

9     WHEREAS, Because of its equidistance between Chicago and
10 St. Louis, the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad
11 established the "New Town" Villa Grove in 1903, which includes
12 the present-day business district; therefore, be it

13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15 recognize the City of Villa Grove's Centennial celebration and
16 congratulate the city on celebrating 100 years as a community;
17 and be it further

18     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to the
19 city of Villa Grove with our best wishes for a successful
20 centennial celebration.
