| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, A day at work will help children discover the link |
| 3 |
| between what they
do now in school
and what they can become in |
| 4 |
| the future; they have the opportunity to witness
first-hand the |
| 5 |
| vital
services that their parents provide each day; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, It is the intent that this event will inspire |
| 7 |
| children to open their
eyes to new possibilities,
and encourage |
| 8 |
| future careers in science, business, technology, government,
|
| 9 |
| etc.; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, A day in the lives of their parents will reinforce |
| 11 |
| children's
ambitions and
help them understand the relationship |
| 12 |
| between academic achievements and success
in the
workplace; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Complaining that too many children are missing |
| 14 |
| school to shadow mom
or
dad at the workplace each April, the |
| 15 |
| Illinois Principals' Association and their teachers suggest |
| 16 |
| that
the annual
"Take Your Kid To Work Day" should be moved to |
| 17 |
| June or be held during school
vacations; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Teachers often put lessons on hold because of the |
| 19 |
| annual event,
which every
year pairs an estimated 11 million |
| 20 |
| children with adults in the workplace;
therefore, be it
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 23 |
| encourage Illinois businesses to adopt the "Take Your Kid To |
| 24 |
| Work Day" as an opportunity for kids to understand the |
| 25 |
| relationship between academic achievements and success in the |
| 26 |
| workplace; and be it further
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, That the State of Illinois encourages this "Take |
| 28 |
| Your Kid To Work
Day" to
occur during the summer months or |
| 29 |
| during school vacations, preventing any
unnecessary
absence |
