 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Delbert  Mundt
 3    of  rural  Dieterich  has been named the 2003 Effingham Daily
 4    News Citizen of the Year; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Mundt is  a  retired  farmer  and  insurance
 6    agent  and  has  lived  in the Dieterich area for most of his
 7    life; he has taken a  lead  role  in  making  sure  Dieterich
 8    survives the inevitable changes of time; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Mr. Mundt attended Southern Illinois University
10    at Carbondale and graduated from the University of  Illinois;
11    he  then served in the U.S. Air Force; following his military
12    service, he returned to the Dieterich community; and

13        WHEREAS, Agriculture is a priority for Mr. Mundt; he is a
14    member of the Farm Bureau  and  he  was  the  first  regional
15    director  of  the newly established Farm Bureau Young People;
16    he  has  been  involved  with  the  University  of   Illinois
17    Extension  Council,  was  a 4-H leader, and was a founder and
18    first treasurer of Effingham County Pork Producers; and

19        WHEREAS, Mr. Mundt  is  an  active  and  energetic  civic
20    leader;  he  served as a school board member for 10 years for
21    Dieterich Unit 30 School District, was vice president of  the
22    Wabash  Valley  School  Board Association, served on advisory
23    boards for Lake Land College in Mattoon, and was president of
24    the local Parent  Teacher  Organization;  he  has  served  on
25    various  advisory  boards,  and  is  a  founding  member  and
26    president of countless community organizations; and

27        WHEREAS,  One  of  the  most  important contributions Mr.
28    Mundt has made to the community was founding and  serving  as
29    the  first  president  of  E  J  Water Corporation, which has
30    brought safe water to rural areas in six counties; he founded
31    the Illinois Rural  Water  Roundtable  and  was  founder  and

 1    president  of Eastgate Regional Water Corporation; therefore,
 2    be it

 3        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 4    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 5    we  congratulate  Delbert  Mundt  on  being  named  the  2003
 6    Effingham Daily News Citizen of the Year and commend him  for
 7    the  extensive  work he has done for his community; and be it
 8    further

 9        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
10    presented  to  Delbert  Mundt  as  a token of our respect and
11    esteem.
