 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, A strong community newspaper system is essential
 3    to the success of our society; and

 4        WHEREAS, On October 13, 1913, publisher  A.S.  Bushkevitz
 5    founded the Des Plaines Valley News; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Bushkevitz  established  the  tradition of
 7    service by naming his publication "The People's Paper"; and

 8        WHEREAS, This tradition has been carried on for 9 decades
 9    by talented and dedicated successors including  the  John  C.
10    Noonan family since 1986; and

11        WHEREAS, There is no better example of a publication that
12    serves  its  readers  with  comprehensive  information  about
13    schools, village boards, recreational programs, and community
14    social and civic programs; and

15        WHEREAS,  The major events of the Illinois communities of
16    Argo-Summit,   Bedford    Park,    Bridgeview,    Brookfield,
17    Countryside,  Hodgkins,  Indian  Head  Park,  Justice, Lyons,
18    McCook, Willow Springs,  and  LaGrange  Highlands  have  been
19    reported  in  the  Des  Plaines Valley News each week without
20    interruption; therefore, be it

21        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
22    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23    we offer our congratulations to the  Noonan  family  and  the
24    other  staff  members  of  the Des Plaines Valley News on the
25    occasion of the 90th anniversary  of  its  founding,  and  we
26    recognize the paper's outstanding accomplishments and service
27    to the people of the State; and be it further

28        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
29    presented to the  Noonan  family  as  an  expression  of  our
30    esteem.
