 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State  of  Illinois are pleased to honor Kathryn "Kitty"
 4    Cole for her many contributions to the community; and

 5        WHEREAS, Ms. Cole has to her credit 10 years  of  service
 6    with  Lakefront Supportive Housing and 20 years of service to
 7    the cause of affordable housing  and  community  development;
 8    for  the  past 10 years, she has diligently committed herself
 9    to Lakefront's mission to end homelessness and the impact  of
10    her  efforts will long be a part of Lakefront's legacy; under
11    her  leadership,  Lakefront   has   successfully   sited   10
12    supportive housing projects; and

13        WHEREAS,   During  her  tenure  at  Lakefront  Supportive
14    Housing,  Ms.  Cole  created  the  Community  and  Government
15    Affairs  Division;   she   launched   a   Tenant   Leadership
16    (Organizing)  Project,  and  with  her team, the work of this
17    project has registered 82% of Lakefront tenants to  vote  and
18    has  developed  the  talents  of many tenants who have become
19    active  advocates  and  leaders  in  their  communities;  she
20    created the Technical Assistance and Consulting program  that
21    assisted  more  than  33  organizations in the development of
22    hundreds  of  units  of  affordable,  supportive  housing  in
23    Illinois; and

24        WHEREAS, Ms. Cole  is  the  co-founder  of  the  Illinois
25    Supportive   Housing   Providers'  Association,  a  statewide
26    network of supportive housing providers; she was a key leader
27    in the effort to create an annualized budget  for  supportive
28    services  for  supportive  housing in the Department of Human
29    Services, totaling $3.5 million each year; and

30        WHEREAS, Ms. Cole has been the recipient of  many  awards
31    during  her  career;  she  most  recently received a Lifetime
32    Achievement in Advocacy award from the National  Alliance  to

 1    End  Homelessness and the Corporation for Supportive Housing;
 2    she also received LaSalle Bank's Tom  Gobby  Award;  she  has
 3    served  on  many  boards,  which  include  the  Chicago Rehab
 4    Network, the  Partnership  to  End  Homelessness,  and  Scrap
 5    Mettle Soul; therefore, be it

 6        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 7    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 8    we  honor  Kathryn "Kitty" Cole for her many contributions to
 9    the community; and be it further

10        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
11    presented  to  Ms.  Cole  as an expression of our respect and
12    esteem and with many thanks for her innumerable contributions
13    to the community.
