 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives congratulate Ellen Morris as she retires from
 4    her  position  as  the  executive  director  of  the  YWCA of
 5    Danville; and

 6        WHEREAS, Ms. Morris is retiring after spending  10  years
 7    as  the  agency's  director;  she  assumed the director's job
 8    after serving for about  two  years  as  director  of  social
 9    services at the facility; and

10        WHEREAS, When Ms. Morris first took over the reins at the
11    YWCA,  one  of  the first changes she made was to abolish her
12    old job which was being responsible for the domestic violence
13    program  and  overseeing  the  sexual  assault  and  homeless
14    programs; she felt the domestic violence program deserved its
15    own  full-time  director;  as  director,  she  had  employees
16    reporting directly to her who oversaw  the  homeless,  sexual
17    assault,  domestic violence, and child care programs, as well
18    as the health club and thrift shop; and

19        WHEREAS, Ms. Morris has worked  hard  seeking  grants  to
20    keep  the  many  programs  the  YWCA has to offer running and
21    improving like the child  care  programs,  and  the  Violence
22    Against Women program to expand services to women; and

23        WHEREAS, After retirement, Ms. Morris plans to assist the
24    new director in a transition period; she plans to continue as
25    president  of  the  Bismarck  school  board,  as  well as the
26    Vermilion Association of Special Education board;  she  would
27    also  like  to  fulfill a longtime desire to tutor adults who
28    can not read or  need  assistance  improving  their  reading;
29    therefore, be it

30        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
31    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that

 1    we  congratulate Ellen Morris on her retirement from the YWCA
 2    of Danville and thank her for her dedication and  hard  work;
 3    we  wish  her  good health and happiness in all of her future
 4    endeavors; and be it further

 5        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 6    presented to Ellen Morris as an expression of our respect and
 7    esteem.
