 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish  to  congratulate Michael L. Perrine of
 4    Kankakee on his retirement as Farm Service Director  of  WKAN
 5    in Kankakee; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Perrine  graduated  from  Pittsfield  High
 7    School  in  1959  and  attended  Odessa  Community College in
 8    Odessa, Texas; and

 9        WHEREAS, Mr. Perrine has been  involved  in  broadcasting
10    for  44  years  and  spent  33 years in Farm Broadcasting and
11    Agri-Sales; with the exception of 1 year in  Indiana,  and  3
12    years in Wisconsin, he has spent most of his broadcast career
13    in Illinois; and

14        WHEREAS, Before becoming Farm Service Director of WKAN in
15    Kankakee,   Mr.   Perrine   worked   for   stations  WLDS  in
16    Jacksonville, WJIL in Jacksonville,  and  WIBU  in  Poynette,
17    Wisconsin;  he  was  one  of  very few farm broadcasters that
18    combined agricultural sales with broadcast duties; and

19        WHEREAS, Mr. Perrine has set many  sales  records  during
20    his  career,  including "Top Salesman" honors at WKAN for the
21    last three years; other awards he  has  earned  include,  the
22    current National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB) Farm
23    Broadcaster  of  the Year for the Eastern Region, the Special
24    Communicator Award from  the  Illinois  Pork  Producers,  the
25    Communicator  of  the Year Award from Land of Lincoln Soybean
26    Association, the Honorary American Farmer Award, recipient of
27    an Honorary Illinois State FFA Degree, and  4H  Honorary  FFA
28    Chapter  degrees;  he was also the recipient of the Livestock
29    Conservation Institute Media  Award  (1990),  the  Friend  of
30    Cooperatives  Award (1990), the Illinois Commodity Conference
31    Broadcast  Media   Award   (1997),   the   Illinois   Soybean
32    Association  Excellence  in Broadcast Media Award (1997), and

 1    the   Illinois   Agriculture   Education   Excellence   Award
 2    (Presented in 1998); and

 3        WHEREAS, Mr. Perrine was presented with the Friend of 4-H
 4    Award by Columbia County, Wisconsin and Kankakee County,  the
 5    County  Corn  Grower  Broadcast Awards by the Kankakee County
 6    FSA & Kankakee  County  Soil  and  Water,  the  Communication
 7    Awards  by  the  Kankakee County FSA and Kankakee County Soil
 8    and Water, and the Friend  of  Growmark  award  presented  in
 9    August 2002; therefore, be it

10        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
11    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
12    we congratulate Michael L. Perrine on his retirement after 44
13    years  in broadcasting and wish him good health and happiness
14    in all of his future endeavors; and be it further

15        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
16    presented  to  Michael  L.  Perrine  as  an expression of our
17    respect and esteem.
