 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish  to congratulate David T. Weigand as he
 4    retires from his duties as Chief  of  the  Illinois  Commerce
 5    Commission Police after 15 years of service; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Chief  Weigand is retiring after an outstanding
 7    27-year career in law enforcement; he began his  career  with
 8    the Chicago Ridge Police Department where he rose through the
 9    ranks  of  Patrolman,  Detective, and, in 1986, Commander; he
10    began his  service  with  the  Illinois  Commerce  Commission
11    Police  in  1988  as  a  Police Officer and became Commander,
12    Assistant Chief, and, in 1993, Chief of Police; and

13        WHEREAS, Chief Weigand graduated from the Chicago  Police
14    Training  Academy  in  1975;  he  is  also  a graduate of the
15    Illinois State Police  Training  Academy,  the  FBI  National
16    Academy, the Northwestern University Traffic Institute School
17    of  Police  Staff  and  Command, the Illinois Law Enforcement
18    Executive Institute Executive  Management  Program;  and  the
19    FBI-Midwest Law Enforcement Executive Development School; and

20        WHEREAS,  Chief Weigand is a member of the South Suburban
21    Association of  Chiefs  of  Police  and  has  served  on  the
22    Executive  Board since 1995; he was founding president of the
23    Worth-Chicago Ridge Kiwanis Club; he served as  president  of
24    the  Chicago Ridge Police Association, the Chicago Ridge Park
25    District Board of  Commissioners,  the  Greater  Cook  County
26    Council  of  Police  Chiefs,  and the Illinois Association of
27    Chiefs of Police; he served as chairman of the South Suburban
28    Major Crimes Task Force Committee and also served as co-chair
29    of   the   Cardinal   Bernardin   School-Legislative   Action
30    Committee; and

31        WHEREAS, Chief Weigand is the son of Mary  and  the  late
32    John  Weigand;  he  is married to Blanche and he is the proud

 1    father of David and Kelly; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 3    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 4    we congratulate Chief David T. Weigand on his  retirement  as
 5    Chief  of the Illinois Commerce Commission Police and we wish
 6    him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it further

 7        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 8    presented  to  Chief David T. Weigand as an expression of our
 9    respect and esteem.
