 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives wish
 3    to congratulate the Meissner Junior High Scholastic Bowl team
 4    of Bunker Hill on winning their IESA Sectional and on placing
 5    second in the IESA State Scholastic Bowl Championship; and

 6        WHEREAS, The team from Bunker Hill competed against  four
 7    teams  in  the  Sectional and finished with three wins and no
 8    losses; the  win  at  Sectionals  gave  the  team  the  first
 9    opportunity  to  compete  at  the  State Tournament in school
10    history; and

11        WHEREAS, At  the  State  Tournament,  the  team  competed
12    against  three other teams and had a record of three wins and
13    no losses, which placed the team in  the  championship  game;
14    the team placed second after the final game giving the school
15    the  best  finish ever for a Junior High Scholastic Bowl Team
16    in school and county history; and

17        WHEREAS, The coach of the team is David Wolf; the members
18    of the team are Katie Dauksch, Jessie  Booten,  Luke  Nelson,
19    Gerred  Strange,  Cody  Neal, John Martin, Elizabeth Chapman,
20    Lisa Gines, Ian Wolf,  Jessica  Mills,  Lisa  Brayton,  Julie
21    Nelson, Heather Rhodes, and Courtney Angle; and

22        WHEREAS,  Three  team members surpassed the single season
23    record of 114 tossup  questions  answered  correctly  in  one
24    season,  previously  held  by Valerie Schaaf; this year, Luke
25    Nelson correctly answered  160  tossup  questions,  Ian  Wolf
26    correctly  answered 145, and Jessie Booten correctly answered
27    131; Luke Nelson is also the career leader with 363 correctly
28    answered tossup questions and Jessie  Booten  is  now  second
29    with 208; therefore, be it

30        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
31    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that

 1    we  congratulate the members and coach of the Meissner Junior
 2    High  School  Scholastic  Bowl  team  on  winning  the   IESA
 3    Sectional  Tournament  and  placing  second in the IESA State
 4    Scholastic Bowl Tournament; and be it further

 5        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 6    presented  to  each  of  the  members  and  the  coach of the
 7    Meissner Junior  High  School  Scholastic  Bowl  team  as  an
 8    expression of our respect and esteem and with our best wishes
 9    for success in the future.
