 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  congratulate  Mayor Bob Jones of Danville on
 4    his retirement; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mayor Jones has spent the last 25 years  of  his
 6    life  in  public  office;  before becoming mayor he served as
 7    Vermillion County Treasurer for nine years; and

 8        WHEREAS, After graduating from Danville  High  School  in
 9    1956,  he  went  to work for Lowell "Jocko" Dively at Jocko's
10    Rootbeer, a drive-up restaurant and putt-putt golf course; in
11    1965, he and his brother opened the  Country  Corner  produce
12    store, which they ran for 10 years; in 1970, he purchased the
13    Colonial  Parkway restaurant and in 1983, he bought the Dairy
14    Queen stands; whether it was running  the  produce  store  or
15    running  for  office,  he was always known for his personable
16    manner; and

17        WHEREAS, Bob Jones has a long list of accomplishments  as
18    Danville's   mayor,   including  organizing  a  new  form  of
19    government, laying the groundwork  for  new  residential  and
20    economic  growth,  and  partnering  with  community groups on
21    projects that have improved residents' quality of life; and

22        WHEREAS, Mayor Jones has served his community with  loyal
23    dedication;  his integrity, ability, and tireless devotion to
24    duty will be long remembered by  the  citizens  of  Danville;
25    therefore, be it

26        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
27    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
28    we congratulate Mayor Bob Jones as he retires his position as
29    Mayor  of  Danville and wish him good health and happiness in
30    all of his future endeavors; and be it further

31        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
