 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that  Susan  Bolek,
 3    K-2  Literacy  Coordinator of Community Consolidated District
 4    93 in Carol Stream, is the recipient  of  the  Milken  Family
 5    Foundation National Educator Award; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Bolek is one of 100 exceptional educators
 7    in 46 states who were selected in 2002 to receive this  honor
 8    which  includes  an  unrestricted financial award of $25,000;
 9    criteria for selection are: exceptional educational talent as
10    evidenced  by  outstanding  instructional  practices  in  the
11    classroom, school, and profession; outstanding accomplishment
12    and strong long-range potential for professional  and  policy
13    leadership;  and  an  engaging  and  inspiring  presence that
14    motivates  and  impacts   students,   colleagues,   and   the
15    community; and

16        WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1985, the Milken Educator
17    Awards  Program  has  presented over $46 million in Awards to
18    nearly 2,000 recipients in 46 states; a total of 93 educators
19    have received the Award since Illinois joined the program  in
20    1988; and

21        WHEREAS,  As  a  recipient,  Mrs.  Bolek joins a national
22    network of outstanding teachers and administrators  dedicated
23    to elevating their profession and affecting the policies that
24    shape their classrooms and schools; therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
26    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
27    we congratulate Susan Bolek on being recognized by the Milken
28    Family  Foundation  with  a  National  Educator  Award and we
29    commend her for the devotion and diligence  in  her  teaching
30    and  leadership necessary to achieve such an honor; and be it
31    further
