 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the State of Illinois wish to congratulate Dennis Flanagin on
 4    being   elected  Chairman  of  the  Board  for  the  Illinois
 5    Association of Park Districts in 2003; and

 6        WHEREAS, Mr. Flanagin is a lifelong resident of  Lansing;
 7    he  has  been  a member of the Lan-Oak Park District Board of
 8    Commissioners for 26 years; he has  served  on  various  Park
 9    District committees during that time and is currently serving
10    as the Park Board President; and

11        WHEREAS,  He  was  first  appointed  to the Board for the
12    Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) in 1997;  since
13    his  appointment,  Mr.  Flanagin  has  served  on  the  Joint
14    Legislative  Committee  and  several  sub-committees  of  the
15    Legislative Committee; and

16        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Flanagin  was  elected  Director  for  the
17    Illinois  Association  of  Park  Districts  in  1999;  he was
18    elected Vice President for the same organization in 2000;  he
19    was  Director/Vice  President in 2001 and was President Elect
20    in  2002,  extending  his  tenure  on  the  Board  for  three
21    additional years; and

22        WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Park Districts is  a
23    non-profit service, research, and education organization that
24    represents  park  districts,  forest preserves, conservation,
25    and recreation agencies; IAPD's mission is to  advance  these
26    agencies  in  their  ability  to provide outstanding park and
27    recreation opportunities, preserve our natural resources, and
28    improve the quality of life for all people in Illinois; as  a
29    public   interest   membership   organization,  the  IAPD  is
30    dedicated to the wise use of  leisure,  conservation  of  our
31    natural  and human resources, and beautification of the total
32    Illinois environment; IAPD has  a  membership  base  of  over

 1    2,100  elected  or appointed park and recreation agency board
 2    members serving throughout the State of Illinois; and

 3        WHEREAS, Mr. Flanagin is a member of the Lansing Lions, a
 4    former member of the Lansing Jaycees, and served  as  a  past
 5    president  of  the  Lansing  Historical  Society;  he was the
 6    recipient  of  the  South  Suburban   Park   &   Recreational
 7    Professional  Association's  Park Board Member of the Year in
 8    1997; therefore, be it

 9        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
10    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11    we congratulate Dennis Flanagin on being elected Chairman  of
12    the  Board  for the Illinois Association of Park Districts in
13    2003; and be it further

14        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
15    presented  to  Dennis  Flanagin as a token of our respect and
16    esteem.
